The bunq Community Has Planted 10 Million Trees!

We're super proud to announce that the bunq Community has officially planted over 10 million trees at our reforestation sites in Kenya and Madagascar. This incredible achievement is a testament to the power of collective action and the importance of reforestation in the fight against climate change.

Reforesting the world

Reforestation is a vital component of global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change. Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, which helps to slow the rate of global warming. Forests also provide a host of other ecological benefits, from regulating water cycles to supporting biodiversity and preventing soil erosion.

However, reforestation is not only essential for the health of the planet but also for the well-being of local communities. Our green impact

In Kenya, for example, our reforestation projects have created new habitats for endangered species. In Madagascar, our reforestation efforts have focused on restoring the country's unique and endangered forest ecosystems. Madagascar is home to a rich diversity of plant and animal species, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth. However, the island has experienced extensive deforestation due to agricultural expansion, logging, and other human activities. By restoring degraded forests and protecting remaining forest areas, we're helping to conserve the biodiversity of this extraordinary place and support the livelihoods of local communities.

Planting trees in the Netherlands

To celebrate our users' achievement of planting over 10 million trees, we've partnered with Trees for All to start planting trees in Europe for the first time ever in Leersum, Netherlands. This beautiful area of the Netherlands is the perfect place to begin our reforestation efforts in Europe, which will bring the benefits of reforestation closer to home. We're excited to see this project take shape and to continue working towards a more sustainable future.
