Our Target: The Paris Agreement

The Paris Agreement, which aims to limit the global average temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, is a key goal for us at bunq. We’re currently at 8,100 tonnes of CO2, which is a fraction of the average financial institution’s carbon footprint.

Planting Trees in Kenya

All bunq users automatically plant trees when paying with their bunq Card, referring friends, or spinning the Wheel of Fortune in the bunq app. To make this possible, we’ve partnered with veritree for their transparency and dedication to real change. With active projects in Mteza Creek and Tana Salt (both in Southern Kenya), our users are stabilizing coastlines, nurturing marine life, and supporting local livelihoods. Our reforestation activities focus on mangrove trees, each capturing 12.3 CO2 every year, filtering pollutants out of water and providing nurseries for marine life.
