Last weekend our surroundings radically changed. We escaped our busy HQ and claimed a quiet place instead, where we set up our own chill out bunqer. The stuff we normally rely on (wifi, charged car batteries, grounded electrical outlets) suddenly played dead. We were in a place so remote that even our most eligible bachelor had only one match on Tinder – or as he calls it “what the environment provides”.
Of course we had an awesome weekend, and we found out that this change of scenery made us reveal hidden talents. Let me draw the pictures.
Our sysadmin traded switches for sandwiches and servers for serving. He prepared several great meals and totally lit up while cutting 80 red peppers.
Finance and Risk Officers become Musicians at night. Playing Elton John at 4 A.M. on the piano has never drawn so much attention. And yes, we definitively felt the love that night.
Android is freedom, so when he was “dropped” on some random location in the woods, Marcin discovered that off-roads are actually his thing.
By having fun, we revealed sides of ourselves that we almost forgot we had. The lesson? Just because you do not see it, doesn't mean it isn't there. It's only when you go bunqers, that you can truly be yourself.
