ING’s Orange Lion joins bunq as CMO

Leo the Lion is the newly appointed Chief Marketing Officer at bunq. After a long selection process, the Orange Lion proved to be the best candidate for the position. He will take over all marketing and communications responsibilities from the founder and CEO of the company, Ali Niknam. 

The oldest icon of the Dutch financial sector and the youngest bank of the Netherlands are both extremely happy with this unexpected collaboration. The Lion: "Banks, and their role in society, are changing. There are new players in the market and new ways to pay. And even though I might be considered old by some, I like to stay ahead in the game. bunq is the bank of the future for they know how to harness the power of IT. I’m a coder at heart and bunq is the only place where I can really unleash my passion."

"Orange is a beautiful colour, but I’d love to wear some other colours too."  

Niknam is excited about his new addition to the team: "It’s unreal. We’re very proud to have an icon like Leo joining bunq. We’re working our asses off on new features like Split the Bill, Requests and Connect. Nothing beats seeing people getting inspired by that: we need those people to realise our dreams. Leo, with his entrepreneurial mind, fits bunq perfectly and he can definitely help our international expansion."
