From paying at the checkout, to planting a tree
As you may know, the bunq Easy Green plants a tree for every €100 you spend, but surely it can’t be that simple? Well, it is! Every time you spend €100 with any of your bunq cards, our system confirms the payment and we donate a tree to our partners at Eden Reforestation Projects.
Eden Reforestation Projects is a non-profit organization on a mission to provide fair wage employment to impoverished villagers as agents of global forest restoration. Since they started in 2005, they have planted over 265,000,000 trees across 82 different project sites! It’s not only the number of trees they’ve planted that’s impressive, but also the jobs they’ve created to help lift locals out of extreme poverty.
Deforestation is a serious environmental issue. Around the world, it’s been linked to problems such as animal extinction, pollution, climate change, natural disasters and forced migration. It’s up to all of us to make a difference and help heal the lungs of our planet - so we decided to take action!
On a monthly basis, we’ll fund the trees that you plant with your bunq Easy Green. This money goes directly to Eden Reforestation Projects to provide a fair wage to local workers and plant trees in Madagascar, Nepal, Haiti, Indonesia, Mozambique and Kenya.
The impact you can make
The trees you plant through Eden Reforestation Projects capture 308kg of carbon throughout their estimated 25-year growth-life. Spend €1000/month with bunq Easy Green
Want to know the impact you’re making? You can see this in the bunq app! Once you spend €100, you’ll plant a digital tree and can watch your virtual forest grow over time.
We believe that it should be easy for people to make a positive impact on the environment. That’s why we’ve made it simple for you to make a difference, just by using any card in your day-to-day life.
Let’s see how many trees we can plant together.
* Based on the average yearly carbon footprint of a European citizen and the average number of trees planted each year by an Easy Green user. Learn more here.
