Ideas for starting a small business in 2022

January 25, 2022

1. Pet sitting🐕

Since throughout the past years we’ve been spending a lot of time at home, the number of pet owners has boomed pretty much everywhere. Now that we’re able to (safely) travel again or return to our offices soon, the demand for pet sitters that can look out for furry friends also increases. Plus, can we even think of a more fun business idea?

This is a great way to build some passive income, as long as you have the time. First however, you need to build a reputation. As most online (based) businesses, pet owners will look for reviews to make sure their friend is safe with you. So start small, help out people you know or let them recommend you to their friends. Before you know it, you’ll have a pretty sweet business running, that comes with some cash but also warm cuddles.

2. Teaching online courses💻

Here’s another idea that boomed throughout the past years - learning from home! With more time on our hands, many have chosen to learn a new skill, strengthen an existing one or just deepen their knowledge on topics they’re interested in. With not much happening in person…all these happened online.

You may think that you don’t have anything to teach, but in most cases, that’s not true. You’d be surprised how many people are interested in learning something new that you don’t know is in demand. Make a list of everything you’re good at and that you could share with others, and have a simple look online. You probably won’t be the first one to teach it, but you can surely join in!

3. Consultancy💼

If you’re looking for a more “serious” business idea in 2022, consider consulting. This is especially great if you’re further down the line in your career and spent years working full-time in an industry, but feel the need for a change of pace. You could be offering your services and knowledge for a good amount of money, while managing your own time.

This is also a great idea if you’re looking for a business that can grow. Of course, you can always start offering your own knowledge to services or people, but over time you can hire other consultants and run a small business.

P.S.: and if you’re looking for a business bank account while you start your own business this year…check out bunq’s. You’ll save precious time, so you can focus on your new found passion.
